Will There Be a Voltron Legendary Defender Sequel?

The showrunners weigh in on whether we could ever get a Voltron sequel or spin-off.

Voltron Legendary Defender may only be a little over half way through its overall run but fans are already hoping the story won’t end. Could there ever be a sequel or spin-off to Netflix’s Voltron?

Showrunners Joaquim Dos Santos and Lauren Montgomery love the Voltron universe and agree there’s a ton of potential in the world for a spin-off or sequel. However Dos Santos makes it clear that decision is outside of their control and that, “we couldn’t answer that now if you paid us a million dollars.”

Speculatively though the two have many things they’d love to expand on if they got to do more with the Voltron universe. Montgomery says they both would love to pursue stories that don’t necessarily move the series forward in the tradition sequel sense but going back and seeing different sides of the current story.

“How did the rebels form? How did the Blade of Marmora form?” Montgomery says. “Just exploring the depths of some of the organizations we didn’t get to spend a ton of time with.”

“I want to see Kolivan move from the ranks of an acting Galran officer to a found member of the Blade of Marmora,” Dos Santos adds. “I think that would be really cool.”

Any possible sequels or spin-offs for Voltron are a long ways away, but what would you like to see? A more traditional sequel picking the story up years later? More of the Blade of Marmora? Something inspired by Vehicle Voltron? Let us know!
