The Sopranos’ Federico Castelluccio Made Partner of MobMovieCon

Furio Giunta goes from an associate to The Sopranos to a made man at MobMovieCon.

Federico Castelluccio hasn’t been playing stupid games of golf since his Furio Giunta character took it on the lam from HBO’s influential series The Sopranos. His Italian-born character was only an associate member of the New Jersey crime family when he zipped to America to work for James Gandolfini‘s Tony Soprano. Castelluccio is a fully made partner in his newest, offscreen, racket. But it’s on the level. He partnered with the creators of the SopranosCon to bring MobMovieCon to the proverbial next level.

“Federico will be focused on talent acquisitions, and will also continue to be the voice of our documentaries,” Michael Mota, one of the three co-founders of SopranosCon and the CEO of Providence’s Skyline at Waterplace, said in a statement. “With such a powerful Hollywood force as Federico behind us, for this and all our future conventions, there’s nowhere else to go but up!”

“We had such amazing chemistry during SopranosCon, and filming the documentary Don’t Stop. I know that things will only be bigger, and better, during MobMovieCon,” Castelluccio said in a statement. “This is the first of many great things to come.”

MobMovieCon is a two-day convention extravaganza celebrating the Mafia film and television culture “that helped define the American pop culture zeitgeist,” according to its press statement. The website lists showings of The Godfather, Goodfellas, Scarface, A Bronx Tale, Donnie Brasco, The Departed, The Irishman, Heat and Mean Streets alongside screenings of episodes of The Sopranos.

“We couldn’t think of a more natural partnership than the one between us and Federico,” Mota said in a statement. “Federico has been a friend of mine for many years, and I’m honored to have worked with him for so many years, as well.

MobMovieCon continues SopranosCon’s “for the fans, by the fans” tradition. The fully experiential convention will kick off with a black-tie awards gala and feature some of the greatest actors and actresses of the 20th and 21st century.

SopranosCon started out as a dream co-founder Joe Fama shared with his longtime wife about a 21st century fan event to celebrate the pop culture zeitgeist of The Sopranos. Mota, Fama, and co-creator Daniel Trader will break omerta in the upcoming Don’t Stop: The SopranosCon Story. The documentary will “chronicle the strange, sometimes arduous — but thoroughly exhilarating— journey to SopranosCon.

MobMovieCon will take place at the Harrah’s Resort & Casino in Atlantic City, N.J., on April 18 and 19.  You can get tickets here.
