Star Wars: Battlefront 2 DLC Includes Anakin Skywalker’s Hatred of Sand

EA announces details, and some funny facts, regarding prequel-era Anakin's arrival in Star Wars: Battlefront II

Star Wars: Battlefront II is adding a new version of Anakin Skywalker, based on his appearance in the Star Wars prequel films. Set to release on February 27, 2019, a new update on EA’s official forums reveals that this version on Ani will come with a highly maligned (yet highly memorable) line of dialogue: “I don’t like sand”, which Hayden Christensen’s heartthrob uttered romantically to Natalie Portman’s Padme in Attack Of The Clones.

This isn’t the first time that Battlefront II has chucked in some fan service for prequel apologists/general Clone Wars enthusiasts. Earlier in the year, Count Dooku was added to the game, complete with such lines as “twice the pride, double fall” from Revenge Of The Sith. You’ll also find prequel-era Obi-Wan and the mostly-metal-menace General Grievous in EA’s multiplayer Star Wars shooter sequel.

In fact, “I don’t like sand. It’s coarse and rough and irritating…and it gets everywhere” is just one of many prequel quotes that EA has included in this new update for Star Wars: Battlefront II. Matt Lanter, who previously lent his voice to Anakin in The Clone Wars TV show, will also say lines such as: “You underestimate my power,” “General Grievous. You’re shorter than I expected,” and “I am a slow learner.”

Anakin’s emotes will pack in a bit more fan service, feature such gems as “Fun: This is where the fun begins,” “Diplomatic: You call this a diplomatic solution?” “Obi-Wan: Obi-Wan’s gonna kill me,” and “Wise Jedi: A wise Jedi once said, ‘Nothing happens by accident.'”

Anakin will arrive in the game in his prequel form on February 27th and will be available for the price of 35,000 credits. There will also be some new clone armor, based on the 501st Battalion, available on the same day.

And if you get stuck in a tight spot during a battle? Try spinning. That’s a good trick.
