Red Dead Redemption 2 Not Responsible for Bond 25 Delays Says Director

Bond 25 director Cary Fukunaga says that Red Dead Redemption 2 shouldn't be blamed for the movies production delays.

We hope that this will end up being one of the strangest stories we bring you this week, but Bond 25 director Cary Fukunaga has denied rumors that production on the latest Bond movie was delayed due to his addiction to Red Dead Redemption 2

This all started when The Sun (a source which has traditionally had to be taken with a grain of salt) published a strange report which suggested that members of the Bond crew were kept waiting for hours while Fukunaga played video games. Apparently, the director’s gaming habits resulted in a lengthy delay that would have led to some members of the production crew working over Father’s Day weekend.

The Sun claimed that one of their sources told them that Fukunaga “failed to turn up for several hours because he was playing on his PlayStation.” The director took to Instagram recently to deny that is the case.

“There’s not a minute on this job that isn’t scheduled, and even during a shoot day, in the hours before call, between takes and setups, and after we wrap there’s always a line of dedicated and hardworking department heads hungry to prep our next sequences, no one sleeps on this kind of job,” said Fukunaga. “As for my PS4 relationship, if my RDR2 progress is any indication, it’s been stunted at 63% for months and if anyone spoils the end for me before I wrap on B25 I’m going to be pissed.”

While Fukunaga stops short of explaining what the reason for the supposed delay was, he does seem eager to shoot down the rumor that Rockstar’s open-world western epic is responsible for the film’s production woes. Of course, we do know that production hit a bit of snag when Daniel Craig suffered an ankle injury while shooting the upcoming movie.

In any case, if Fukunaga is interested in shooting a Red Dead Redemption adaptation in the future, we’d certainly begrudge him spending some time to research the project.
