King of Fighters Allstar Mobile Game Coming in 2019

Netmarble's mobile game based on the SNK fighting game series will no longer be exclusive to Japan and Korea. Get your game on, go play!

It’s not a bad time to be a fan of the King of Fighters franchise. While the latest main installment, King of Fighters XIV, hasn’t received any DLC in a while, there are still other games set in this universe to fill the void.

One of these is King of Fighters Allstar, a beat ’em up RPG mobile game that came out in mid-2018 in Japan and South Korea. In a surprising move, Netmarble US has announced that this game will now be going west sometime in 2019 for both iOS and Android.

The game has you build up various King of Fighters characters (and boy, are there a lot to choose from) as you put together a team of fighters and assists in order to take down the series’ original villain, Rugal Bernstein. There is also an army of street thugs and Rugal can turn into an energy kaiju.

Honestly, I don’t know what the actual plot is. Luckily, here are a couple of trailers for the Japanese version that at least gives us an idea of what’s going on.

Supposedly, just about every King of Fighters character will be available and that means over a hundred. As of right now, it appears that the roster is based on the first few years of the series, with the likes of Brian Battler and Wolfgang Krauser joining the more well-known Kyo Kusanagi and Iori Yagami. There’s a smattering of newer characters and presumably more will be added over time.

No idea when it’ll be available this year, but it will be out in North America, Europe, and Latin America.
