AEW Release Date for TNT Weekly Show Revealed

TNT is about to become elite.

All Elite Wrestling, the new wrestling promotion started by Cody Rhodes, The Young Bucks, and Tony Khan, announced in May that they have come to terms with WarnerMedia to air a weekly wrestling show in prime time on TNT beginning later this year. AEW’s debut on TNT will mark the first time the network has aired a wrestling program since the final WCW Monday Nitro in 2001.

While AEW has been able to keep fans interested via various PPVs (some of them free), details of the weekly show have been sparse. Now we know when the show will kick off. Starting on October 2, AEW’s show will be airing Wednesday nights at 8pm ET. The show will be two hours and will take place in different cities. The inaugural show will be at the Capital One Arena in Washington DC.

So far they haven’t announced the show’s official name, though the rumor making the rounds is AEW Wednesday Night Dynamite. While this won’t put them head-to-head with WWE‘s televised shows, it will be up against NXT on the WWE Network, which presumably has more fan overlap to AEW than WWE’s main shows. Similarly, when AEW did their free show Fight for the Fallen, WWE counter-programmed it by showing Evolve’s 10-year anniversary show on the WWE Network.

AEW’s show will make its debut just over a month after AEW’s big upcoming PPV All Out, which will feature such matches as Chris Jericho vs. “Hangman” Adam Page to crown the first AEW World Champion and Kenny Omega vs. Jon Moxley (formerly Dean Ambrose). Also, the new series will start up just two days before WWE SmackDown moves to Fox.
