Bad Boys for Life: Trailer, Release Date, Cast, and News

Bad Boys 3 or Bad Boys for Life, has been, up until now, a long-kept secret. The difficulty, as producer Jerry Bruckheimer said back in summer 2013, centered on the task of reuniting its duo headlining personnel. Back then, he was “trying to find a hole in Will Smith’s schedule.”

Having finally overcome dilatory issues, the long-awaited threequel revives the popular buddy cop film franchise of 1995’s Bad Boys and 2003’s Bad Boys II, both of which were directed by Michael Bay. While he ultimately dropped out of directing the Will Smith and Martin Lawrence revival vehicle, he would be replaced by a duo of up-and-comers in Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah.

Now, Bad Boys for Life, the third film in the series is ready to once again ask the ever-pertinent question, “whatcha gonna do when they come for you?”

The first trailer for Bad Boys for Life has, at long last, arrived! While the action is as heavy as ever, the boys are noticeably older. Indeed, Martin Lawrence’s Marcus is seen laying down the Roger Murtaugh, “I’m too old for this s**t” routine, making clear his intentions for imminent retirement.

Bad Boys for Life Details

Here’s a synopsis for Bad Boys for Life that surfaced back in January 2019:

The new instalment centres on the Miami PD and its elite AMMO team’s attempt to take down Armando Armas (Jacob Scipio), head of a drug cartel. Armando is a cold-blooded killer with a vicious, taunting nature. He is committed to the work of the cartel and is dispatched by his mother to kill Mike (Will Smith). Paola Nuñez will take on the role of Rite, the tough and funny criminal psychologist who is the newly appointed head of AMMO and Mike’s former girlfriend – and the one who got away.

While Bad Boys for Life spent ages in production purgatory, a Bad Boys spinoff TV series project has since manifested, called L.A.’s Finest, and is already set for a second season. It stars Gabrielle Union, who plays her Bad Boys 2 character, Sydney “Syd” Burnett, joined by Jessica Alba, who plays police partner Nancy McKenna.

Headliners Will Smith and Martin Lawrence will be joined in the Bad Boys for Life cast by Alexander Ludwig (Vikings, The Hunger Games), Vanessa Hudgens (Second Act, Powerless) and Charles Melton (Riverdale, American Horror Story).

Here’s some additional cast and details…

Jacob Scipio is set to play the Bad Boys for Life villain, Armando Armas, the head of a drug cartel, described as “a cold-blooded killer with a vicious, taunting nature.” Scipio, a London-born actor, has fielded runs on TV shows such as Dixi, Some Girls and As the Bell Rings, and provided his voice for several episodes of children’s favorite Bob the Builder. He recently appeared in the action thriller movie, Hunter Killer, and will be seen in the November-2019-scheduled sci-fi film, The Strangers.

Paola Nuñez will play Rite, a tough-but-funny criminal psychologist who was recently appointed head of Miami PD’s elite AMMO team. She also happens to be the former girlfriend of Mike (Will Smith), a fact that telegraphs a dynamic of romantic tension. Nuñez, an actress who has long-fielded film and television roles in her native Mexico, made a stateside breakout earlier this year on AMC’s (imminently returning) TV series, The Son.

Joe Pantoliano is set to reprise his role as Captain Conrad Howard, reports Deadline. Pantoliano previously played the character – the irate overseer of Will Smith’s Mike Lowery and Martin Lawrence’s Marcus Burnett – in 1995’s Bad Boys and 2003’s Bad Boys II. The veteran New Jersey-born actor has fielded a diverse array of major movie roles over decades in The Matrix, Memento, Daredevil, The Goonies, Eddie and the Cruisers and Risky Business, as well as an unforgettable TV run on The Sopranos. He recently recurred (uncredited) on Netflix’s Sense8 and last appeared in the comedy movie, Feast of the Seven Fishes.

Bad Boys for Life Director

Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah directed the long-belated threequel. The directorial duo has worked on the 2018 crime drama, Gangsta, and the first two episodes of the current FX crime series, Snowfall.

They worked off a script worked on by newcomer Chris Bemner and veteran Joe Carnahan (The Grey, The A-Team, Smokin’ Aces). Additionally, Jerry Bruckheimer returns as a producer, joined in that capacity by star Will Smith.
