The Walking Dead Season 10 Episode 11: Carol and Ezekiel Reconnect in Exclusive Clip

The Whisperer War is here, and Alpha’s first target is in sight. The Whisperers and their massive walker horde are coming for the Hilltop in “Morning Star,” this Sunday’s episode of The Walking Dead season 10, and the community will have to decide whether to fight or run.

The entire season has been leading to this first big battle between the communities and the grotesque group of flesh-wearers, and it’s a battle that may lead Hilltop to its doom. Alpha brings with her what can effectively be called an “atomic bomb” of walkers and there’s no way the community has enough fighters to hold back the attack. At best, maybe they’ll take a few Whisperers with them.

But before the Whisperers arrive at the Hilltop’s gates, a few characters have a chance to reconnect and (maybe even say goodbye) before they’re eaten by walkers. Two of those characters are Ezekiel and Carol, the former king and queen of the Kingdom, which finally fell at the end of last season. Since Henry’s death and the settlement’s fall, the former couple has been separated — Ezekiel at the Hilltop and Carol in the Alexandria Safe-Zone — but this Sunday’s episode gives them a chance to reconnect.

Don’t get too excited. It’s not like king and queen are magically going to get back together and live happily ever after in their castle. Likely far from it. But perhaps they can address some of the things that tore them apart, such as the fantasy life that led to them lowering their guard long enough for maniacs like Alpha to bring chaos to their settlement. Neither of these characters will ever recover from the brutal death of their son — one they both feel like they could have stopped had they been more vigilant and protective (Carol certainly regrets letting Henry go to the Hilltop) — but maybe they can find some comfort by talking about it.

In the exclusive clip below, we get to see Carol and Ezekiel’s reunion. Khary Payton and Melissa McBride play off each other brilliantly here, as their characters exhume their history in order to perhaps find some healing at the bottom. Watch the scene for yourself:

This is a sweet moment in an episode that could very well bring a lot of death for the cast, as they prepare to ward off a devastating Whisperer attack, and we’re left to wonder if this scene might be setting up the death of either one of these characters. After all, The Walking Dead characters usually have heart-to-hearts right before being turned into walker meat. Those are just the rules.
