Ssssmmoookin! The first season of The Mask will finally coming to DVD thanks to Warner Archive on April 10th, 2018. All of the first season episodes will be on a MOD (manufacture on demand) disc and will cost $24.99. For those not in the know, The Mask animated series took many elements from the 90’s film of the same name (without Jim Carrey, of course) but really upped the zany factor.
The series also included the voice talents of such amazing actors as Rob Paulsen, Frank Welker, Neil Ross, Jim Cummings, Tim Curry, and many many more! You can find the cover for the DVD set below.
Here’s the official synopsis from Warner Archive’s site.
When he dons an ancient Nordic mask, Stanley Ipkiss moves at warp speed, knows your every desire, satisfies your every whim and dances like a dapper demon. Based on the film The Mask, this animated series tells the story of sweet, socially inept bank teller Stanley Ipkiss, who discovers the magical mask of Loki, which transforms him into a super hero…but one whom you may not want to call for help. This intriguing mix of edgy super satire and Tex Avery-style reality-smashing slapstick boldly goes further than the film and finds Stanley – and The Mask – falling into ever-more-improbable perils. Watch how he faces madcap menaces like Baby Mask; the man-hungry Lady Mask; Pretorius’ Sister Mask, which exists to turn The Mask into a living puppet; the youth-stealing Skillit; and the most terrifying one of all – Stanley’s dog, Milo (as a Canine Mask!). Rob Paulsen and Tim Curry lend their voices to the antics.
No bonus features are on this release but just having the episodes is a miracle in of itself.
The more Warner Archive puts out these animated series the better the world is. While there may not be a huge fanbase clamoring for this it’s still great it’ll be available for the diehard fans who want it.
