The Blacklist Season 6 Episode Guide
The Blacklist season 6 has reached its end, but we've got all of the news and a comprehensive episode guide archived here.
As The Blacklist season 6 moved the show to a new Friday time slot, the story of Raymond Reddington (James Spader) and his continued deception of Elizabeth Keen (Megan Boone) dug even deeper into the enigmatic “concierge of crime.” Reddington has had his ups and downs over the past several seasons, but viewers had to see him reach news lows in the show’s sixth season.
Unfortunately, there’s a generalized rule of thumb in network television scheduling: Friday nights tend to be death slots (with CBS procedurals being the exception). Indeed, this is not exactly an auspicious move for former NBC breakout smash The Blacklist, especially after its dip in ratings and the network’s (atypical) delay for the show’s most recent season renewal. However, one could point to the fact that NBC’s Blindspot survived its Friday move as a positive sign here.
Still, The Blacklist is one of NBC’s better-rated dramas. In its Wednesday time slot last season, the show attracted nearly 9 million viewers per episode. Even if it weren’t a solid ratings performer, however, the appeal of being the “James Spader network” is a strong incentive for NBC to keep the show around.

The Blacklist Season 6 Story and Details
Here’s the official logline for The Blacklist season 6:
Following the startling revelation that Raymond “Red” Reddington (Spader) isn’t who he says he is, Elizabeth Keen (Boone) is torn between the relationship she’s developed with the man assumed to be her father and her desire to get to the bottom of years of secrets and lies. Meanwhile, Red leads Liz and the FBI to some of the most strange and dangerous criminals yet, growing his empire and eliminating rivals in the process. All throughout, Liz and Red engage in an uneasy cat-and-mouse game in which lines will be crossed and the truth will be revealed.
The Blacklist started out in 2013 on Mondays to tremendous success, subsequently shifted to help bolster other shows on Thursdays. In early 2017, midway through Season 4 of the main series, NBC touted spinoff The Blacklist: Redemption. However, the 8-episode experiment failed, resulting in cancellation and, ruthlessly enough, the death of the spun-off character, Ryan Eggold’s Tom Keen, shortly after his return to the main series in Season 5. Interestingly, that season saw the show moved to Wednesdays, a scramble that seemingly signaled the network’s ambivalence about the season 6 decision.
Consequently, while NBC is hardly confirming anything about the future (or lack thereof,) of The Blacklist beyond Season 6, any discerning prognosticator will likely put the show on a death watch. It’s unfortunate, since star James Spader is still killing it on the series.
