Dispatches from Elsewhere Release Date, Cast, Story, and More News

Jason Segel is returning to television with AMC mystery sci-fi anthology series Dispatches from Elsewhere.

Jason Segel‘s place in television history was already assured with roles in prominent series like Freaks and Geeks and How I Met Your Mother. Yet, he’s decided to pad his resume and return to the medium that launched his career.

AMC gave a full season pickup back in July 2018 for Dispatches from Elsewhere, a 10-episode mystery anthology series starring and created by Segel. The series is about a group of people who stumble upon a puzzle beyond the veil of ordinary life, leading them to a mystery far deeper than the characters ever imagined.

David Madden, president of original programming for AMC, SundanceTV, and AMC Studios said in the July 2018 statement announcing the project:

“AMC has a proven history of finding shows that rise above, in every sense, and we think Dispatches from Elsewhere will be an incredible addition to that club. This is a very special project based on a truly unique premise and peopled by vivid characters, all driven by Jason’s wildly creative vision. We’re thrilled for audiences to see this bold, witty and enthralling series.”

Jason Segel serves as series creator, star, executive producer and will even direct one episode. This will be his first TV series since How I Met Your Mother. He’s gone on to be a successful comedic actor and writer with films such as Forgetting Sarah MarshallThe Muppets, and Sex Tape.
