Black Lightning Season 4 Episode 7 Cast, Return Date, Trailer, and News
Black Lightning Season 4 is here. Here's everything you need to know about the superhero show's final season.
Black Lightning is back for its fourth and final season. The CW announced in November 2020 that they would not be renewing the Black-led superhero drama for another season. We still have the 13-episode final season to enjoy, and the potential of a Black Lightning spin-off. In a previous statement, showrunner Salim Akil said of the latter:Â “While Season Four may be the end of one journey, I’m extremely excited to usher in a new chapter and continued collaboration with The CW as we tell the story of Painkiller.”
For now, though, Black Lighting is back. Here’s what we thought of the latest episode.
Black Lightning Season 4 Return Date
Black Lightning returns on April 12th with the backdoor pilot for the potential Khalil-centric spinoff. Check out the promo for “Painkiller” below…
Black Lightning Season 4 Cast
Most of the Black Lightning main cast has returned for the final season, save for Damon Gupton, whose character, Bill Henderson, was killed in Season 3 during Freeland’s battle with the Markovians. Returning cast members include: Cress Williams as Jefferson Pierce/Black Lightning, China Anne McClain as Jennifer Pierce, Nafessa Williams as Anissa Pierce/Thunder, Christine Adams as Lynn Stewart, Marvin “Krondon” Jones III as Tobias Whale and James Remar as Peter Gambi. Melissa De Sousa has joined the cast (via Essence) as the new Freeland Chief of Police Ana Lopez.
While China Anne McClain returned for the beginning of Season 4, the actress left early in the season.
“I was so tied up in working, working, working, and getting ahead,” McClain told Teen Vogue of the decision. “And I was so tied up in that because I really do love acting. I don’t like this industry, but I love creating things, creating art.” McClain left Black Lightning because she would like to do other kinds of art and tell other kinds of stories.
Newcomer Laura Kariuki will be taking over the role of Jennifer for the rest of the season and series.
Black Lightning Season 4 Release Date
Black Lightning Season 4 premiered on February 8th on The CW. The show aires weekly on Mondays at 9pm ET.
