14 Random Movie Stills Paused at Funny Moments
The flow of motion is often conveyed in film, not truly achieved. After all, the medium of movies was conceived through rapid moving still images that, when quickly shown, create the illusion of movement. This is true in animated films as well, or even moreso, since there are very specific motions that need oddly looking frames to work.
While we can enjoy how it all comes together in the final product, we can also have a laugh at these frames, since they almost always look like the actor/character is portraying a different feeling than intended.

Tarzan In Motion
To create the fluid motions of the Disney movie Tarzan, some rather eccentric stills were used. This adds to the fluidity of the film, but on its own, it looks like a rather odd Tarzan.

Surprised Aladdin
It seems that Jazmin just told Aladdin something he can’t believe, or he sat on a cactus on his way home.

The Ripple
Pocahontas is always remembered for how stoic she constantly looks, but here, she seems quite goofy.

Angry Cullen
This irrecognizable Robert Pattinson had quite the straining moment during this scene, something that makes him look more like his action double.

Eye Popping
This How to train your Dragon scene has the character Eret being piled on by different characters, with the pain visible on his face. Perhaps too visible.

The Mid Blink
In this still of Mudbound, we see a classic outcome of pausing mid-scene: the actor being in the middle of a blink. The outcome is nearly always funny.

Annoyed
Angourie Rice goes through a lot of emotions in Mean Girls, but the only one represented here is teen angst.

Bad Taste
Christa Miller is clearly about to say “what” with a lot of emphasis. Either that, or she ate something really sour.

Problematic Travolta
There are a lot of dance scenes in Grease, where characters move around a lot. One of those movements can end up showing a rather problematic gesture.

Seizure Astronaut
Is Ryan Gosling having a seizure, falling asleep, or getting electrocuted? You decide.

Mario Sneeze
Modern animated films also suffer from the dreaded still image, and in this case, we have Mario trying to hold a monumental sneeze.

Quite The Expression
Rosa Salazar shows her facial range in Wedding Season, so much so that we aren’t sure what is even going on during this scene.

Leo Had Enough
In Don’t Look Up, Leonardo Dicaprio plays a scientist that tries to warn the world of its impending doom. In this scene, however, he seems to be fed up with it all.

Mocking Face
Pepper Potts has Tony Stark’s back in nearly every film, but here, it looks more like she’s mocking him than anything else.
