Star Wars’ John Boyega to Star in They Cloned Tyrone
John Boyega joins a new resistance as lead in Netflix sci-fi comedy They Cloned Tyrone.
John Boyega, best known as Finn in Star Wars: The Force Awaken and Star Wars: The Last Jedi will play the lead role in the Netflix‘s upcoming science fiction conspiracy comedy They Cloned Tyrone, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Earlier this year, it was reported that Atlanta star Brian Tyree Henry was in negotiations for the role.
The film marks the directorial debut of Juel Taylor, who wrote Creed 2, who also co-wrote the script for They Cloned Tyrone with Tony Rettenmaier.
The film is being described as “Friday-meets-Get Out” in a pulp-mystery adventure. It will follow an unlikely trio who investigate a series of eerie events, leading them to uncover a sinister conspiracy in their neighborhood. Casting for the other two members of the trio has not yet been announced.
English actor Boyega will reprise his role as Finn in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the third and final movie in the Star Wars sequel trilogy, which comes out December 20. He will star alongside Letitia Wright in the science fiction romance Hold Back the Stars. He is also set to star in the legal drama Naked Singularity, which will hit theaters in 2020, and the period drama Small Axe. Earlier this year, Boyega announced he will produce the South African-set crime drama God is Good.
Production for They Cloned Tyrone is set to begin in the first quarter of next year.
