Watch This Crazy Czarface and MF Doom Video for “Bomb Thrown”

The new collaboration between Czarface and MF Doom is full of retro animation and action figure style.

Czarface, the hip hop supergroup comprised of 7L & Esoteric with the Wu-Tang Clan’s Inspectah Deck, has a new album out this week. The project’s devotion to comic book and nerd culture is still in place, too. Every album is packed with samples from old cartoons and lyrical references to superheroes, sci-fi, action figures, and releases are topped with eye-popping comic book style artwork. The previous Czarface release, the instrumental First Weapon Drawn, was sold like an old Power Records book and record set, complete with narration and a full color comic drawn in Jack Kirby style (Kirby’s voice has made its way on to the occasional Czarface track, too).

But the new album is a team-up/crossover with MF Doom. Get on Down has an out there description for the LP, known as Czarface Meets Metal Face

Rising from the wreckage of a war torn planet, Czarface joins forces with MF DOOM in the epic Czarface Meets Metal Face! Blending DOOM’s trademark abstractions and CZARFACE’s in-your-face lyrical attack, this album is ripe with cartoon violence, societal observations and pop culture musings. Over banging beats provided by The Czar-Keys, the armored team give you the witty unpredictable treats any hip-hop fan can sink their fangs into.

Check out the stylish video for “Bomb Thrown” directed by Kendra Morris, complete with retro animation and crazy stop-motion action featuring appropriately retro action figures.

The vinyl cape on the Czarface action figure is just too perfect. Czarface Meets Metal Face is out on March 30. You can order it from Get on Down.
