14 Photos Where History Looks Very Fun
Learning about history, its important events, and how much they’re interconnected, can be a complete chore. So much so, that at times we feel as if the past was filled with only dull moments, where people never saw color, never experienced fun, and only thought about wars.
Well, that couldn’t be further from the truth, and this is why we’ve put this list together of pictures from the past. These people lived through history’s most relevant events, the great World Wars in particular, and still had time to have fun. Can you say the same?

Sunny Day
Nothing like enjoying the sun on a bright day. While a lot of pictures of the 40s are black & white, we can still get a sense of the weather thanks to the level of exposure.

Swimming
Enjoying some time on the beach is as timeless as the beaches themselves. This picture was actually a risk to take, since you needed to take the camera rather deep into the water.

Kodachrome Color
Kodachrome color didn’t work like our photographs of today. It heightened the color palette of the picture to such degrees that, if it were to be believed, every day was a striking sunny day.

Group Selfie
Can you believe the selfie was a thing even back on the early camera days? These gentlemen are so amazed that they all want to get into the frame.

Selfie Stick
The revolutionary technology of the selfie stick was, back in the day, a literal wooden stick you’d find on the ground. Talk about being practical.

Bride
Getting married is always a time for joy, something this bride couldn’t hide for a moment. To her, it was particularly joyful, since her husband-to-be had just returned from the war.

Mountaintops
Not everyone can afford a trip to the mountains, so we might as well get the mountains to us! Backdrops like this one allowed people the illusion of travel.

Thanksgiving
I don’t know about you, but if this kid is thankful about anything, it’s about getting a piece of that juicy turkey before the night ends.

The Dream
Beer in hand, sun shining, and good company, some people can’t ask for a better time in life. Bonus points for having it immortalized in a photo.

Dance
Enjoying a time together is crucial for any couple. For these two, having a nice dance that evening led to children and grandchildren down the line.

First Steps
A baby taking its first steps is something every parent wants to record somehow. It’s incredibly easy today, but a full blown achievement back in the 50s.

Playground
This picture was taken by an American soldier during the Korean War, showing how people did their best to lead normal lives even in times of strife.

Coca-Cola
What’s so special about someone ordering some Coca-Cola, you ask? That it was the first time the world-famous brand made it to France, that’s what.

Hats
People had time to be all kinds of silly back in the day, but taking a picture while being silly required some preparation. In this case, all it took was improvising some interesting hats.
