Undertaker vs John Cena WrestleMania 34 Match Raises More Questions

After weeks of buildup, the John Cena vs. Undertaker WrestleMania 34 match was another mystery.

For weeks, John Cena called out the Undertaker and those calls went unanswered. The Undertaker finally responded to Cena in a big way on Sunday night at WrestleMania 34 in New Orleans.

Cena, who was watching the show from the crowd, was summoned backstage by an official early in the broadcast. Later in the show he made his ring entrance and called out Undertaker, but Elias instead spoiled the show. Cena, after some verbal jabs, disposed of Elias and went to leave the arena when the lights went out.

Dong…Dong…

The Undertaker’s hat and coat were shown in the ring. Remember, he left them there last year when he lost to Roman Reigns in the WrestleMania 33 main event.

The hat and jacket was gone, but soon the Undertaker made his ring walk.

The match, surprisingly, was quick. Cena was able to land exactly one offensive move, as Undertaker demolished the 16-time World Champion in under three minutes.

That’s right, John Cena lost a squash match at WrestleMania.

It’s an interesting booking strategy. You have to think, at some point, Cena is going to win a World Title for the 17th time and break Ric Flair’s world record. The storyline that’s playing out right now is that Cena can’t win anything. He’s questioning his abilities. Does he have it anymore?

That’s the story that will continue to play out until Cena finally gets that title match at some point. He’s lost the Royal Rumble, he lost at Elimination Chamber, and now he lost at WrestleMania 34, after calling out his opponent.

For the first time in his run on top, Cena is actually generating some genuine sympathy from the crowd.

Where this leaves Undertaker is uncertain. He was able to, in some ways, avenge the loss to Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 30 that broke his legendary streak. That match took place in the same building, in New Orleans.

You have to think at some point Cena and Undertaker rematch. But when? And where?
