Torchwood: no longer being made in Wales?
Captain Jack's Passport
From tonight's Doctor Who launch: does the future of Torchwood now lie overseas?
Published on Mar 18, 2010
Appreciating that we may be reading too much into this, just before the press screening of Doctor Who: The Eleventh Hour this evening, the director of BBC Cymru Wales, Menna Richards, stood up and made a small speech.
In it, she talked about the new drama centre that's being built in Cardiff to house the increasing output from the city. And she specifically cited the programmes that it would play home to: Doctor Who, Pobol y Cwm and The Sarah Jane Adventures.
Notice what's missing off that list? There's no sign of Torchwood, and it seemed mighty conspicuous by its absence.
As we said, there might be too much being read into it. But as we discussed here, it seems more and more likely that the future of Torchwood lies in the US rather than the UK. Because if that's not the case, it's a very odd programme to leave off that list.
Just thought you'd like to know...
