Filming on the next series of Doctor Who continued on the streets (and roofs) of Cardiff with some familiar faces and new friends. This articles contains HUGE spoilers so do NOT read any further if you are of a sensitive nature....

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

The first batch of outdoor shooting earlier this week took place on the roof of a University building in Cardiff where some very exciting action indeed was taking place. Spotted on set were, unsurprisingly, Matt Smith and Karen Gillan but joining them was the seasoned Scottish actor, Bill Paterson. The 54 year old has recently starred on the small screen in Spanish Flu - The Forgotten Fallen (with Mark Gatiss - more about him later), Law & Order and Little Dorritt (both with Who alumni Freema Ageyman), and the highly acclaimed Criminal Justice (with Waters of Mars actress Lindsey Duncan). This shoot also revealed some British soldiers in World War II attire, sandbags, barbed wire and, wait for it, a Dalek.

On the next day, filming moved elsewhere in the city and a little investigation provided some more fascinating facts for the story. It would appear that Winston Churchill is to be one of the characters in the tale which is thought to be written by Mark Gatiss (having been postponed from Series 4). Churchill's involvement has long been mooted since the BBC declined his use in the book Revenge of the Judoon. Lastly, it would appear that Karen Gillan is using her own Scottish accent for the role of the Doctor's companion, Amy Pond.
