Torchwood delayed until summer?
Cameron McEwan
Shorter than ever, and...later than ever? Captain Jack and Co. may hit the UK and US simultaneously this year...
Published on Jan 12, 2009
Good news for US fans of Torchwood but bad news for UK fans of the Doctor Who spin-off.
It would seem that the next series, Torchwood: Children Of Earth, is to broadcast on BBC America on the same day that it transmits in the UK. Garth Ancier, president of the channel, was interviewed in Los Angeles (as part of the Television Critics Association tour) revealing this new information. He also added that, as yet, no date had been confirmed but stated that the "first part of summer" was most likely.
Originally the BBC had planned to screen the third series of the sci-fi show over five nights in Spring but it would now appear that it could air as late as June, or even July (but still over five consecutive nights).
This change in dates is causing some headaches at the BBC with five consecutive nights in summer becoming increasingly hard to find. But, in another first for BBC America, Torchwood: Children Of Earth will screen in HD.
