Burger King uses Spider-man ad for Dark Knight burger
Sarah Dobbs
Burger King's got a new burger out, inspired by The Dark Knight. Except last summer, it was inspired by Spider-man 3. What's going on?

Burger King's adverts for its new Dark Whopper are everywhere - tied into The Dark Knight, this burger supposedly appeals to your dark side. It's got black pepper cheese, black pepper ketchup, and dark grill sauce, and if you succumb to it, suddenly you'll be kicking puppies and forgetting to call your mother. Check out the ad:
But wait a minute. Does anyone else have deja vu? Cast your mind back to the big superhero movie of last summer and ... look!
It's the same advert! For the same burger!
Shocking.
(Does anyone else kinda want one now, though?)

Ha! Good find, Sarah! Perhaps Burger King thinks fast food kills off brain cells? Specifically, those that handle memory?
I guess you've been good and had only healthy, nutritious meals between both movies. ;D

Clearly! I actually ... really don't like Burger King. I think I've eaten there twice since turning 18, and possibly under 10 times in my entire life. It's always a mistake. (Ditto McDonalds!) The idea of the Dark Whopper is actually quite appealing, but I know it'll probably be horrible and make me feel ill. Still, maybe I could make my own version...

At least they didn't tie in their french fries with Harvey Dent's face!

I remember when 'Batman Forever' came out.
McDonalds did a 'Bat Burger' thing that was two burgers laid over one another so as to look like wings (seriously... someone got paid to think this shit up), and the TV ad had that famously crap quote of
"...I'll get drive thru."

I have a confession to make, you guys. Last night, after going to a film screening and not having time to eat real food... I succumbed to curiosity and had a Dark Whopper.
It wasn't good. Probably because it was late at night, and Burger King just had all their burgers pre-wrapped and kept lukewarm; the bread was too sweet and slightly stale; the flavour in the cheese and sauce wasn't strong enough to break through that horrible bread taste.
Admittedly, though, I'm not familiar enough with Whoppers to know whether it tasted significantly different. It just didn't taste significantly ... er, of anything.
*feels a bit sick thinking about it now*
