Bryan Fuller, the creator of under-appreciated shows Dead Like Me and Pushing Daisies, has announced that he's creating a new television series called The Lotus Caves.
Based on a 60s science fiction novel by Samuel Youd (who published under the pseudonym John Christopher), The Lotus Caves relates the tale of two boys who live in a colony on the moon. When they venture beyond the confines of their home, the pair discover a strange, plant-like alien intelligence.
After the light-hearted fantasy of Dead Like Me and Pushing Daisies, it will be interesting to see Fuller return to the kind of heavier science fiction work he once tackled in Star Trek: Voyager and Deep Space Nine.
Fuller's all set to co-write the script with Jim Grey, whom he last worked with on Pushing Daisies. There's no word yet on what format the series will take or when it's likely to appear, but we'll be sure to keep you posted of further developments.
