New Judge Dredd movie in the works
Martin Anderson
After a poor reception in 1995 for Danny Cannon's cinematic take, Judge Dredd is finally out on parole...

A posting on 2000AD forums today reveals that a new Judge Dredd movie is coming our way.
The post announces that Rebellion and 2000AD are joining forces with DNA films (Sunshine, 28 Weeks Later) to bring 2000AD's most esteemed character to the screen a second time.
The 1995 Sylvester Stallone production tanked in an atmosphere of critical ferocity and box-office disinterest, but it seems that the current mania for comic adaptations has proven irresitible.
CEO and Creative Director Jason Kingsley said, ‘We can’t give away too many details at this point, but we’re looking forward to working with DNA Films to bring Judge Dredd back to the big screen.’
Since DNA's two most successful films have starred Cillian Murphy, will he be the one to say 'I am the law'? Let the casting furore commence...
Dare I suggest that there is only one serious contender around today with adequate chin for the role...?
