What to Expect in Season 2 of The Mandalorian

MANDO'S BACK

By John Saavedra

On Oct. 30, The Mandalorian returns for season 2. Where will Mando and Baby Yoda’s journey take them this year?

The season 2 trailer teases that our beloved heroes are in search of Baby Yoda’s home as well as more Mandalorians to guide them.

Along the way, the duo will have to face the evil Moff Gideon and his Imperial forces as well as the bounty hunters still out to capture Baby Yoda and New Republic security.

Moff Gideon is one of the show’s most enigmatic villains — a merciless Imperial officer who also happens to be skilled with a mysterious Mandalorian sword known as the Darksaber.

In February 2020, Giancarlo Esposito himself teased “major, major, epic, epic lightsaber action happening on this show” in season 2. It’s not clear how that’ll happen without any Jedi around!

The Mandalorian season 2 will also mark the live-action debut of fan-favorite animated series character Ahsoka Tano, played by Rosario Dawson.

But she’s not the only long-established Star Wars character appearing on the show. Temuera Morrison, famous for playing Jango Fett in Attack of the Clones, is set to play an older Boba Fett!

Katee Sackhoff will also bring Mandalorian warrior Bo-Katan Kryze to live-action for the first time. As far as we know she was the last Mandalorian to wield the Darksaber, which means she probably has a few things to say to Moff Gideon!

Plus, WWE superstar Sasha Banks and Timothy Olyphant will also appear in season 2, with rumors suggesting they’re playing Rebels freedom fighter Sabine Wren and Tatooine sheriff Cobb Vanth respectively.

But are all of these returning characters friends or foes of Mando and Baby Yoda? We don’t know yet.

At the very least, Greef Karga and Cara Dune will be back to help Mando on his mission to find Baby Yoda’s home. Missing will be Kuill and IG-11 (R.I.P.).
