Flora: “You said it was a ghost story. It isn’t. It’s a love story.” Jamie: “Same thing really.”
The Haunting of Bly Manor is based on the works of Henry James, including The Turn of the Screw, The Jolly Corner, and The Romance of Certain Old Clothes.
It features much of the same cast as Mike Flanagan’s first entry in the Haunting series, The Haunting of Hill House.
Much like Hill House, it also includes plenty of ghostly Easter eggs for fans to find.
Though some ghosts aren’t too hard to find in the first place.
Dani and Jamie and Owen and Hannah form the romantic soul of the season.
The romantic misfortunes of Viola a.k.a. The Lady in the Lake create the haunted gravity of Bly Manor.
The show’s haunted mythology culminates in one stylish, standout episode.
Dani and Jamie triumph over Bly Manor but unfortunately... everything yields to time.
It’s all perfectly splendid.
