What To Expect in The Mandalorian Season 3

By John Saavedra

The season 2 finale of The Mandalorian shocked viewers, but it also left room for speculation about where the season 3 might be headed.

Spoilers ahead for the aftermath of the daring rescue of Grogu from the hands of Moff Gideon, who sought to exploit the child.

Obviously, the big reveal was Luke Skywalker swooping in to save the day, slicing through dark troopers with his green lightsaber.

Given the popularity of Grogu, it is likely that at least one episode of The Mandalorian season 3 will glimpse his training with Luke.

Mando and the others also captured the Darksaber and are likely headed to liberate Mandalore from the clutches of the Empire.

It wouldn’t be surprising if the homeworld were the very first stop of season 3 for a large battle worthy of a season premiere.

The possession of the Darksaber also makes Mando the new Mand’alor, leader of his entire race, whether he wants the role or not.

Might Bo-Katan be forced to fight Mando, as Gideon insisted the Darksaber required, to rule Mandalore once again?

While the introduction of Grand Admiral Thrawn might be reserved for the Ahsoka spinoff, the mention of the noted villain is telling.

In fact, The Mandalorian season 3 could be used to similarly introduce the storylines of other spinoffs, such as Rangers of the New Republic.

We could also see an appearance for another Rebels character, Sabine Griffin, who has ties to the Darksaber, Bo-Katan, and Ahsoka.

There’s also crossover potential between The Mandalorian season 3 and The Book of Boba Fett, since the latter will premiere first.

Finally, fans can expect to see a return of Timothy Olyphant’s Cobb Vanth, given the popularity of his character.

The Mandalorian season 3 begins production later this year and is likely to return around the new year.
