Time Lord in waiting, Matt Smith, has reportedly signed a £200,000 a year contract to star as The Doctor in the BBC show, Doctor Who.
According to The Sun, Smith has a five year contract that ties him to the hit sci-fi show for three years with a further two year option after that. His wage comes in at considerably less than David Tennant's current one (£1,000,000 a year), if the newspaper is to believed.
An unnamed source said, “All new deals are done with the economic climate in mind,” whilst an 'insider' said, “Bosses don’t want Matt doing a David and leaving when things are going great.”
Matt can currently be seen starring in the BBC2 series Moses Jones whilst BBC4 is repeating 2007's Party Animals in which he took a leading role.
Filming on this year's specials continues with the main members of the cast flying out to Dubai earlier this week to film Planet Of The Dead.
