Now that’s what you call a turnaround. When it was first announced that US TV was going to be remaking the hit Brit show Life Of Mars, many of us who had thoroughly enjoyed the adventures of Gene Hunt were joined together in a special shudder. Then we saw the pilot episode, and that shudder turned to cold sweat. And then we saw the first episode of the show proper, and we were pleasantly surprised. For the US take on the show is really very good indeed.

According to The Hollywood Report, NBC has now ordered a back end to the show’s maiden US season, with nine more episodes now ordered to go into production, to make a total run of 22. This is in spite of ratings that have hardly set the world alight, although The Hollywood Reporter notes that its viewing figures are boosted by the number of people who record the show to watch later.
