TRANSFORMERS: RISE OF THE BEASTS

By Lee Parham

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is an upcoming prequel to the original Transformers films and takes place after Bumblebee. Here’s what we already know about the film.

Set in the 1990’s, the prequel stars Anthony Ramos fresh off the success of In The Heights. Ramos is set to play Noah, an ex-military vet who’s an expert in electronics.

Ramos is joined by Project Power and Judas and the Black Messiah star Dominique Fishback, who’s playing a museum artifact researcher named Elena.

Legendary voice actor Peter Cullen is once again lined up to reprise his role as Optimus Prime, the leader of the Autobots and protector of Earth.

Prime is not the only Optimus this time around, he’ll be joined by Optimus Primal, the leader of the Maximals who can transform into a Gorilla voiced by Hellboy star Ron Pearlman.

Who are the Maximals? Descendants of the Autobots, the Maximals are pseudo-organic Transformers with the ability to transform into beasts like gorillas, rhinos, and tigers.

Where there’s descendants of the Autobots, there’s descendants of the Decepticons. The Maximals' arch rivals are the Predacons, who can transform into beasts and sea monsters.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will be an adaptation of the Beast Wars: Transformers computer animated cartoon series that ran from 1996-1999.

Beast Wars: Transformers is lauded as one of the best Transformers stories ever written because of its attention to fine character detail and balance of humor and action.

Creed II filmmaker Steven Caple Jr. is directing the film while Edge of Tomorrow executive producer Joby Harold is creating the story.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is slated for release on June 24, 2022!
