THE WALKING DEAD

THE BEGINNING OF THE END

SEASON 10:

By Alec Bojalad

The six-episode Walking Dead season “10C” is now underway. And here’s what you can expect.

In fall of 2020, AMC did the previously unthinkable: announced an end date for its zombie hit The Walking Dead.

Though the franchise will continue on in its many spinoffs, season 11 is set to be the final go-around for the flagship series

Before season 11 premieres later this year, however, the show decided season 10 had more story to tell.

The six episode continuation of season 10 is underway now and will bring a combination of comic adapted and original storytelling to the proceedings.

Episode 17, “Home Sweet Home”, premiered on Feb. 28 and officially brought Maggie (Lauren Cohan) back into the fold.

It also introduced an intriguing new antagonistic group: The Reapers.

Episode 18, “Find Me” will premiere on March 7 and feature the continuing stories of Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Carol (Melissa McBride).

The next three episodes will be titled “One More,” “Splinter,” and “Diverged.” They will catch up with characters Gabriel, Aaron, Eugene, Ezekiel, Yumiko, and Princess.

The most eagerly-awaited installment, however, is the season’s final episode “Here’s Negan.”

“Here’s Negan” takes its name from a beloved miniseries of Walking Dead comic issues that fills in the backstory of everyone’s favorite Savior.

This is set to be Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s time to shine on the series, and his real life wife, actress Hilarie Burton, will portray Negan’s wife Lucille.

In speaking with Den of Geek, Walking Dead showrunner Angela Kang revealed that this “mini-season” was the perfect time to borrow from the popular comic arc.

Kang said, “We knew we'd always wanted to do a ‘Here's Negan’ type of story and it felt like it was a good place to do it here.”

The Walking Dead season 10C should be an interesting tuneup for the final arc of this long story.
