TURNS THE  WHEEL OF TIME

By Michael Ahr

Rosamund Pike will play the powerful channeler Moiraine in Amazon’s adaptation of the epic fantasy The Wheel of Time, continuing her career’s meteoric rise.

Pike has had several standout roles since she made her big screen debut as Bond girl Miranda Frost in 2002’s Die Another Day opposite Pierce Brosnan.

She then captured moviegoers’ hearts as the compassionate eldest sister Jane Bennet in 2005’s Pride and Prejudice alongside Keira Knightley.

She and another co-star from that film, Carey Mulligan, became roommates, and both joined the cast of An Education in 2009, which featured Pike’s first true breakout performance.

Pike returned to the action thriller genre in 2012’s Jack Reacher opposite Tom Cruise, taking on a major role while pregnant with her first son, Solo.

Her first sci-fi gig came in 2013, when she starred as Sam Chamberlain in the Edgar Wright alien invasion comedy, The World’s End.

Pike was nominated for an Oscar as the female lead of 2014’s critically acclaimed drama Gone Girl, which took her career to new heights.

Pike has even taken on biographical roles, including playing two Maries: legendary war journalist Marie Colvin in A Private War and famed scientist Marie Curie in Radioactive.

Most recently, Pike tried her hand at dark comedy villainy in Netflix’s I Care a Lot, in which she played a shady legal guardian bilking her wards for their money.

Now in 2021, Pike takes to the small screen in Amazon’s The Wheel of Time, a fantasy series based on the books of the same name by Robert Jordan.

Pike plays Moiraine, a powerful magic user belonging to a women’s order known as the Aes Sedai, who manipulate world events behind the scenes of those who rule.

The Wheel of Time premieres on Friday, November 19, 2021 and the opening episode prominently features Pike’s acting prowess garnered from years of playing amazing roles.
