MCU PHASE 4:
WHAT'S COMING NEXT?
By Kirsten Howard
Now that Loki and Black Widow are out, what do Marvel fans have to look forward to in the back half of 2021?
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has delivered some stellar additions so far this year.
With WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Loki, the MCU’s Phase 4 and Disney+ era began in earnest, captivating viewers.
We also finally got a Black Widow solo movie, which ended up being a super enjoyable Bond-esque spy thriller.
But we’ve got good news for you if you were wondering whether Marvel Studios was planning to try and top all that this year!
You won’t have to wait too long for the next Disney+ series, as the wild animated series What If…? will be streaming during August.
What If…? looks back at key events from the MCU and spins them so that we can see what might have happened if different decisions were made.
The series has got an extra boost from Loki, which opened up all kinds of multiverse possibilities.
After What If…?, Shang-Chi and the Legends of the Ten Rings will arrive in September.
Simu Liu stars in this origin story for Marvel's master of martial arts, and this will be the first major superhero film led by an Asian character.
November is also set to deliver Hawkeye, a Disney+ spinoff series for Jeremy Renner’s archer that will see him on the run from Florence Pugh’s Black Widow character Yelena Belova.
Marvel’s delayed Eternals movie will finally hit our screens in November, too. The cosmic epic has an international all-star cast that includes Angelina Jolie and Kit Harington.
And just in time for Christmas, Peter Parker will be spinning a new web in Spider-Man: No Way Home; a multiverse movie that will bring back some familiar faces from the past.
Tom Holland returns with Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange at his side as the pair tackle appearances from old villains like Doc Ock and Electro.
Whatever your favorite MCU area is, whether it be cosmic or more down to earth, Marvel Studios has you covered for the rest of the year.
