HAILEE STEINFELD
ALWAYS ON TARGET
By Kirsten Howard
While Hailee Steinfeld joins the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Hawkeye as the unstoppable Kate Bishop, we look back on her incredible career so far.
This holiday season, Steinfeld will make a big splash in the MCU, playing the up-and-coming archer supreme Kate Bishop, who teams up with Jeremy Renner’s OG Avenger Clint Barton.
Steinfeld was actually born in the run up to Christmas in 1996 in Los Angeles, California as the daughter of an interior designer and a personal fitness trainer.
The actress got her big break at a very young age. At 13, she scored the role of Mattie Ross in the Coen brothers’ 2010 Western, True Grit.
Critics praised her astonishing performance in True Grit, calling Steinfeld a natural, and she went on to snag a nomination for Best Supporting Actress at the 83rd Academy Awards.
When Steinfeld later co-starred in Pitch Perfect 2 as Emily Junk alongside fellow actresses Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson, the industry also noticed she was musically talented.
Playing some of her songs for a representative from Republic Records led to her signing a record deal in 2015, and she has been releasing music ever since.
In 2016, she led the cast of the coming-of-age comedy-drama film The Edge of Seventeen, which also got her awards attention.
From there, she reprised her role as Emily in Pitch Perfect 3, and starred in Transformers spin-off film Bumblebee, also voicing Gwen Stacy in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
Steinfeld was then cast in the lead role of Emily Dickinson in the Apple TV+ period comedy series Dickinson. Its third and final season debuted this year.
In the meantime, Steinfeld was chosen for the coveted part of Kate Bishop in Marvel Studios’ Hawkeye, premiering on Disney+ this month.
Right now, the unstoppable actress is starring in no less than three major TV series in one capacity or another: Hawkeye, Dickinson and Netflix’s highly acclaimed Arcane animated series, voicing Vi.
Hailee Steinfeld is always one to watch, and always on target!
