Ahsoka Tano’s
Legend Continues in The Mandalorian
By John Saavedra
Ahsoka Tano made her long-awaited live-action debut on The Mandalorian season 2 and took the next step in her long Star Wars journey.
Rosario Dawson may have brought Ahsoka to live-action in “The Jedi,” but the character’s history actually stretches all the way back to 2008.
Three years after the end of the Prequel Trilogy, Lucasfilm released The Clone Wars animated film, which starred all the heroes you know as well as Ahsoka, Anakin’s young Jedi Padawan.
Designed as a POV character for younger viewers, Ahsoka was an exciting new addition to the Star Wars universe.
The Clone Wars animated series that followed the movie centered on Ahsoka and her evolution from Padawan to Jedi Knight.
But her Jedi career was cut short when she decided to leave the Order and carve her own path.
Ahsoka didn’t run away from the war, though. Right as Revenge of the Sith was happening, she led the Republic forces to Mandalore to take down the villainous Maul once and for all.
But when Order 66 turned the Republic against the Jedi, Ahsoka’s life was irrevocably changed.
More than a decade after the Clone Wars were over, Ahsoka returned as the Rebel spy “Fulcrum,” and she helped the fledgling Rebellion in its fight against the evil Empire.
It was on the animated series Star Wars Rebels that she faced her biggest challenge yet: learning the truth about her former master’s transformation into Darth Vader.
After her duel with Vader left her stranded on an ancient Sith planet, Ahsoka was lost to the galaxy until she mysteriously reappeared with a new mission: to find a lost Jedi friend, Ezra Bridger.
When we reunite with her in The Mandalorian, it seems Ahsoka is still on this quest, hoping that finding Grand Admiral Thrawn will lead her to Ezra.
Along the way, she’s able to help Mando learn more about Baby Yoda, including his real name and where he comes from. It’s a pivotal moment that will undoubtedly change the show.
Meanwhile, Ahsoka takes down the cruel Magistrate Morgan Elsbeth and gets the information she needs to find Thrawn.
