Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order – 5 Facts You Need to Know

For fans who want single-player games set in the galaxy far far away, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order could be your only hope.

EA’s next AAA video game release in the Star Wars galaxy will be Respawn Entertainment’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. It’s a single-player game, and it boasts Gotham‘s Joker actor Cameron Monaghan as its lead character.

That hero character is Cal Kestis, a Padawan-level Jedi that is on the run from the Empire during the game. And if you want to find out more about his journey, you’ve come to the right place.

To save you the effort of trawling the web in search of info like a lonely probe droid on Hoth, we’ve gathered all the info we actually know for sure into this handy guide about where the game is at…

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Gameplay

At E3 2019, EA revealed 15 minutes of gameplay footage, which are set on the planet of Kashyyyk and take place three hours into the game. You can watch the clip above.

From Force-running up walls to slashing around with your lightsaber, this gameplay footage is pretty exciting. It also confirms that Saw Gerrera, Forest Whitaker’s character from Rogue One and Rebels, will have a role in the game.

One thing we know for sure about Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is that it’s going to have a “thoughtful combat” system that encourages players to size up their opponents and make educated decisions about how to defeat them.

It won’t just be lightsaber-wielding foes that Cal goes up against in the game. We’ll also see blaster-firing Stormtroopers and folks with their own unique weapons, adding a nice variety to proceedings as Cal fights to survive.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Story – It’s set after Episode III

As for the narrative of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, here’s an official summary: “From Respawn comes a brand-new action adventure game which tells an original Star Wars story around a surviving Padawan set shortly after the events of Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith.”

When the Emperor activated Order 66 and ordered his Stormtroopers to kill all the Jedi, Cal managed to survive. He’s been hiding in plain sight ever since, enduring the “dark times” between Episode III and Episode IV. He’ll go on a journey in the game that forces him to find new allies. One of the missions he’ll face is rescuing Wookiees on Imperial-occupied Kashyyyk.

Cal’s droid companion is named BD-1, and he’s been described as Cal’s best friend. Ben Burtt, who shaped the soundscape of the Star Wars movies, has helped bring BD-1’s voice to life.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Team – It has KotOR 2 and Rebels alums

Chris Avellone, who wrote Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II, has revealed that he did some work on Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

Although KotOR II doesn’t have quite the same legendary status in the Star Wars fandom as the original KotOR title, it is still a very strong game that is driven by story and character. Having Avellone bring that experience to Fallen Order is an exciting prospect for fans of Star Wars single-player adventures.

Matt Michnovetz, who served as a writer on The Clone Wars and Rebels animated series, has also brought some existing Star Wars pedigree to the game as well. His presence makes a lot of sense, especially when you consider the presence of Saw Gerrera and this villainous character in the game…

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Villain – The Second Sister

The game’s main villain is the Second Sister, a member of the Inquisitorius. Fans who’ve watched the Star Wars Rebels animated series will recall that the Inquisitors are evil employees of the Empire who hunt down surviving Jedi using their own lightsaber-based weaponry.

The Second Sister is a cunning force-user, too: in the trailer, for instance, she uses the Force to control the gearstick on Cal’s ship from outside of the craft. She’ll also have her own special Purge Troopers to provide backup, helping her sniff out Jedi and take them on.

We talked way more about her here.
