CBS All Access has confirmed that we will spend a second season in the fifth dimension. The Twilight Zoneseason 2 was officially picked up less than a month after the series premiered on April 1st, 2019.
According to CBS, the anthology drove the most viewers on its release day for an original series on the streaming service, which is also home to Star Trek: Discovery. Peele serves as executive producer and narrator, taking the place of Rod Serling, the creator and iconic figure behind the original Twilight Zone.
“Jordan, Simon [Kinberg], the creative team and cast have done a phenomenal job translating the series’ legacy of socially conscious storytelling for modern-day audiences. They are master storytellers, and we look forward to bringing fans further into The Twilight Zone with a second season,” said Julie McNamara, executive vice president of original content at CBS All Access in a statement.
In our spoiler-free review of the revival, we noted that “not every episode will resonate with all viewers, but there definitely is a little something for everyone” and it’s “an admirable homage to its namesake.”
This year marks the 60th anniversary of The Twilight Zone. The series originally ran for 156 episodes from 1959 to 1964. There have been two prior revivals, one in 1985 best known for enlisting a handful of notable horror and fantasy directors and writers, and one in 2002 that was hosted by Forest Whitaker and aired on UPN.
