The Man in the High Castle Season 3: Release Date, Trailer, Cast, News, and Story Details

The Man in the High Castle Season 3 will be returning soon, and we've got the latest trailer, cast news, and more.

With The Man in the High Castle season 3 about to return (and, oddly enough, already renewed for season 4), fans are anxious to see the Amazon original series delve deeper into the parallel universes introduced by the mysterious films in the first two seasons. As John Smith rises in the ranks of the Reich and the resistance fighters reorganize, the stage is set for a tense political situation in occupied America.

After executive producer Frank Spotnitz’s sudden departure midway through the production of The Man in the High Castle season 2, Amazon had to reach out to find a replacement showrunner. According to Deadline, Eric Overmyer, who executive produced Amazon’s popular drama series Bosch, took over as showrunner for season 3. Amazon completed the production of season two without a true showrunner after the departure of Spotnitz, but the remaining episodes were left in the hands of the original production staff.

Jason O’Mara will be joining the cast of The Man in the High Castle season 3, straight off his departure from Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Coming on as a new series regular leading role, O’Mara’s character will be Wyatt Price, whose Irish family fled Europe to New York as the Nazis began to dominate. He has survived in the Nuetral Zone as a hustling black marketeer but is a big believer in what America was before the war.

One of the biggest bits of casting news for season 3 was the promotion of Michael Gaston from a recurring role to a series regular (Deadline exclusive). The actor plays Mark Sampson, a hardware store owner who often befriends Frank, and fellow underground worshiper of the Jewish faith.

The Man in the High Castle Season 3 Story

Per reports from Comic-Con, it sounds like The Man in the High Castle is going even more overtly sci-fi in season 3. The Greater Reich will discover anomalies in time in space next season that lead to alternate universes. Like universes in which the Third Reich did not win World War II (seems familiar).

We learned from a set visit in October of 2017 that John Smith’s star is on the rise within the American Reich, however reluctantly, and he and Helen will be dealing with the restrictive nature of their new life in the city, says Rufus Sewell, who plays Smtih. With great power comes great responsibility… and even greater scrutiny. Helen will be dealing with the aftermath of her son’s sacrifice last season, and drugs may be a big part of her coping mechanism, according to star Chelah Horsdal.

Nicole Dormer will also be arriving in New York City to broaden her filmmaker horizons, according to Bella Heathcote, who will be a series regular this season.
