In honor of Season 3, Stranger Things is transforming Coney Island into an '80s carnival wonderland next week.

Stranger Things Season 3 Coney Island

Get ready for the best news to come out of Coney Island since Joey Chestnut ate 74 hot dogs on July 4, 2018!

In honor of its summer theme and Fourth of July release, Netflix is bringing Stranger Things Season 3 to New York’s hallowed Coney Island.

According to Time Out New York, Stranger Things will come to Coney Island from July 5 through 7 and transform the amusement park neighborhood into an ’80s wonderland. Deno’s Wonder Wheel Amusement Park will adopt an era-appropriate ’80s appearance. The Stranger Things portions of the park will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Specific Stranger Things aspects will include a Scoops Ahoy ice cream shop and a Tilt-A-Whirl.

There will be a Hawkins Fourth of July Spectacular Fireworks Show at 9:30pm ET on July 5.

Coney Island isn’t the only location celebrating the upcoming Stranger Things Season 3. This coming weekend, Santa Monica Pier in Southern California is getting Stranger Things-ified. That celebration will feature ’80s cover bands, the Hawkins’ high school cheerleading team, and some eating competitions.

Also, for what it’s worth, I stopped at a combination Baskin-Robbins/Dunkin Donuts earlier today and one of the employees had a Scoops Ahoy shirt on. Sure enough, Baskin-Robbins has a deal with Netflix to offer some Scoops Ahoy-specific treats.

Netflix is going all out for Stranger Things Season 3, solidifying the impression that it’s one of the streamers biggest blockbusters. The wait between Stranger Things Season 2 and 3 was a bit longer than usual but that’s understandable with the major changes that a difference in seasons required. This new batch of eight episodes will take place in the summer, and feature summer hotspots like the Hawkins summer fair and Starcourt Mall.
