Facebook is looking to get into the TV-like content game with its video-on-demand service Facebook Watch, which launched last August. We’re already big fans of Facebook Watch’s SKAM Austin, and there’s another upcoming series that’s caught our attention…
Sorry For Your Loss stars Avengers: Infinity War‘s Elizabeth Olsen and Star Wars: The Last Jedi‘s Kelly Marie Tran, which, right off the bat, gives you two great reasons to check it out. The 10-episode half-hour dark comedy series will follow Leigh Shaw (Olsen), a young widow who is forced to reassess her life and relationships following the death of her husband.
According to EW, “Leigh is tough and fierce (and sometimes admittedly judgmental). She knows she can be resilient, but grief complicates her already complicated life.” Tran plays Leigh’s younger sister, June, someone who has “a reputation for being the most fun (and most inebriated) person at any party.”
The series was written and created by playwright Kit Steinkellner, who previously wrote for Amazon’s short-lived Z: The Beginning of Everything series, and also stars Mamoudou Athie (Unicorn Store), who will play Leigh’s late husband, Matt; Jovan Adepo (The Leftovers), who will play Matt’s brother, Danny; and Janet McTeer (Marvel’s Jessica Jones), who will play Leigh’s mother, Amy.

According to Deadline, Spectacular Now director James Ponsoldt helmed the first episode, as well as others, and Switched at Birth creator Lizzy Weiss is serving as showrunner. Facebook Watch has put together a solid cast and creative team for this show, which, so far, seems to be flying mostly under the radar.
Sorry For Your Loss will premiere on Facebook Watch on Sept. 18, but expect to hear more about it following the Toronto International Film Festival where the first four episodes will have their world premiere.
