She-Ra Netflix Reboot Confirmed To Have LGBT Characters

The new She-Ra Netflix series will include characters who are LGBT.

She-Ra Netflix Reboot - Glimmer, Bow, and Adora

Fans of cartoons are desperate for LGBT representation. From the moment the new She-Ra and the Princesses of Power was announced, fans were wondering if there would be LGBT characters in the series. Well thanks to the NYCC panel for the series, we know that will be the case!

When asked who some of their favorite characters were, Aimie Carrero (Adora) revealed that she loved, “Bow’s dads.” This refers to the main character of Bow in the series. It appears she wasn’t supposed to reveal it, since several of the panelists joked it was a spoiler but now it’s out in the world!

This confirms there will be LGBT characters in the series, at least Bow’s dads. Although there could be more down the line! Nothing beyond the dad’s are confirmed but who knows? We don’t know when Bow’s dads will show up in the series. It may not even be in the first season, considering animation has an incredibly long lead time when it comes to production.

We can’t wait to see these characters and that LGBT characters are a confirmed part of the show. Other animated series, like Steven Universe and Voltron, do include LGBT characters but it took many episodes or seasons for that to be confirmed. To know we’ll be getting this before even the first episode drops is incredibly exciting for representation.

Even more so that Bow is a character of color, which could mean his dads are also characters of color (but we don’t know, he could be adopted!) It’s all incredibly exciting and hopefully this means nothing but good things in the future of animation when it comes to LGBT representation.

Stay tuned to Den of Geek for all things She-Ra and the Princesses of Power. The series will premiere November 16th on Netflix. Check out everything we know about the new She-Ra series here.
