Sci Fi Fidelity Podcast: Tricia Helfer Interview

The cylon star of Battlestar Galactica, Tricia Helfer, spoke to our sci-fi podcast hosts about her new BSG rewatch podcast and Lucifer.

Tricia Helfer and James Callis in Battlestar Galactica

When we found out that Tricia Helfer, long known for her iconic role as the cylon in the red dress, Caprica Six, was doing a Battlestar Galactica rewatch podcast called Battlestar Galacticast, we knew we had to talk to her about it. As podcasters ourselves, we were amazed by the fact that a star of a classic sci-fi television show would be doing an episode-by-episode analysis like the most die-hard fans do on their super-geeky, nitpicky podcasts. With her co-host, writer and journalist Marc Bernardin, Helfer has gone all in on her own show.

We’ve already shared a portion of our interview in written form, but we go a little bit deeper on Sci Fi Fidelity, not only getting at the process Helfer uses to prepare for her podcast (that is, talking shop a bit), but we also speculate on some of the potential guests Battlestar Galacticast may feature, adding our suggestions along the way. Helfer’s career has brought her several more memorable roles since Battlestar Galactica went off the air in 2009, but she talks about how she’s never minded being continually associated with her first acting gig.

That being said, we do spare a few moments to talk about Helfer’s recent turn on seasons two and three of Lucifer as lawyer Charlotte Richards, the vessel for Lucifer’s mother. Although she will not continue in the role when Lucifer moves to Netflix for season 4, Helfer talks about how she got more time than expected on the show. Stick around until the end of the podcast for an interesting tie-in between Lucifer and Battlestar Galacticast.
