The most rapidly binged box set in Sky history, Save Me debuted earlier this year to rave reviews, so it’s fantastic news to hear that it’ll return for a second series on Sky Atlantic.
The show, that’s created and written by Lennie James, introduced us to Nelly Rowe (also James!), a womanising drifter whose world was turned upside down after he was arrested for a crime he didn’t commit – the abduction of his estranged daughter Jody.
Sky announced this week that both James and co-star Suranne Jones (Doctor Foster) will return for the second series of Save Me, which is due to start filming in 2019.
“I am so chuffed that we get to keep telling the story of Save Me,” remarked Lennie James, in a statement. “Thank you to Sky Atlantic and a huge thank you to everyone who watched our little show and enjoyed it. More to come as soon as I can sit down to write it!”
Star Suranne Jones added “I am so thrilled to be returning for the second series of Save Me. The reaction to the show has been amazing and I love being part of a great ensemble piece. Lennie has fantastic energy and his writing is so real and poetic. I cannot wait to read what he creates next.”
More as we have it.
Save Me series 2 air date
The second series of Save Me won’t go into production until 2019, so it’ll be the middle of next year at the earliest before we can clap our eyes on it.
