neXt: Fox Creepy A.I. Series Trailer Arrives After Series Order

Fox TV series neXt plays on real artificial intelligence fears. The series stars Avengers: Endgame's John Slattery.

neXt will arrive under Fox’s network television tentpole playing on increasingly widespread – certainly legitimate – fears about privacy from our own devices, specifically what information our artificial intelligence helpers are stealthily stealing from our lives.

While the news-headline-ripped topic centers on the idea that device-dwelling A.I.s like Amazon’s Alexa and Google Home are gleaning metadata (maybe more) by listening to our conversations, the premise of neXt takes the notion a step further, showcasing the story of a tech mogul, played by John Slattery of AMC’s Mad Men and Avengers: Endgame, who is attempting to stop his rogue A.I. invention from causing chaos.

Having just been picked up to series by Fox, neXt will arrive under the purview of creator/executive producer Manny Coto (24: Legacy), joined by executive producers and directors John Requa and Glenn Ficarra (This Is Us), as well as EP Charlie Gogolak.

neXt Cast

The cast of Fox’s neXt is revealed in the network’s official description of the series.

neXt is a propulsive, fact-based thriller about the emergence of a deadly, rogue artificial intelligence that combines pulse-pounding action with a layered examination of how technology is invading our lives and transforming us in ways we don’t yet understand. Starring Emmy Award nominee John Slattery (Mad Men) as a Silicon Valley pioneer, who discovers that one of his own creations – a powerful A.I. – might spell global catastrophe, and teams up with a cybercrime agent (Fernanda Andrade, The First) to fight a villain unlike anything we’ve ever seen – one whose greatest weapon against us is ourselves.

The series also stars Michael Mosley (Ozark) as CM, Jason Butler Harner (Ozark) Ted LeBlanc, Eve Harlow (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) as Gina, Aaron Moten (Mozart in the Jungle) as Ben, Gerardo Celasco (How to Get Away with Murder) as Ty Salazar, Elizabeth Cappucino (Jessica Jones) as Abby and Evan Whitten (The Resident) as Ethan Salazar. Voice actor Dann Fink (Split) plays the A.I. itself, neXt.
