Hulu is continuing its blitz of original content in the peak television era, this time with a teen-aimed horror series, called Light as a Feather. The series adapts a story by author Zoe Aarsen, centered on an outcast teenage girl who’s forced to deal with the frightening supernatural consequences of the titular sleepover game.
Light as a Feather will manifest with a 10-episode inaugural season on Hulu. The series adaptation is the creation of Lee Fleming Jr. (The Lying Game, One Tree Hill), who serves as showrunner and executive producer.

The Light as a Feather trailer shows how an outcast teenage girl’s endeavor for acceptance amongst a group high school peers leads to some supernatural meddling finds them biting off more than they can chew – literally, as the trailer showcases in one instance with an apple.
As the official synopsis explains:
An innocent game of “Light as a Feather, Stiff as a Board” goes wrong when the five teen girls who played start dying off in the exact way that was predicted, forcing the survivors to figure out why they’re being targeted – and whether the evil force hunting them down is one of their own.

Light as a Feather will premiere on Hulu – in time for Halloween – on October 12.
Light as a Feather Details
The series adapts Aarsen’s Wattpad original self-published story, Light as a Feather, Stiff as a Board, which follows high school junior McKenna Brady (Liana Liberato), who’s associated with tragedy, locally known as the girl whose twin sister died in a house fire. However, McKenna is suddenly embraced by the popular girls of Weeping Willow High, she attends their slumber party. Yet, also in attendance is a mysterious new girl, named Violet (Haley Ramm), who incites the group to participate in a game of “Light as a Feather, Stiff as a Board,” in which she conjures up elaborate tales about the popular girls’ deaths; gruesome fates that later come true. Thus, it’s up to McKenna, and her next-door neighbor (and prospective love interest), Trey (Jordan Rodrigues), to stop Violet’s malevolent agenda.
The cast also consists of Peyton List, Ajiona Alexus and Dorian Brown Pham.
Light as a Feather joins an ever-expanding Hulu scripted drama lineup that touts the smash series, The Handmaid’s Tale, along with Marvel’s Runaways, that’s soon to be boosted by the Stephen King adaptation series, Castle Rock, which arrives in July. Hulu has previously collaborated with AwesomenessTV with the horror series, Freakish, and comedy series, All Night.
