YouTube Premium isn’t messing around with its sci-fi series, Impulse. Indeed, the show, which premiered back on June 6, 2018, landed a quick renewal for a second season, which was announced less than two months later at that year’s San Diego Comic-Con.
YouTube Premium (formerly YouTube Red) cited 8 million viewers for the Impulse pilot in its Comic-Con 2018 renewal confirmation. Thus, Impulse Season 2, like its predecessor, is coming back with a full 10-episode run. It helped that the first season was very well received, and that the popular Cobra Kai helped the new streaming subscription service carve out a viable niche.
Impulse is directed and produced by Bourne Identity and Edge of Tomorrow director Doug Liman. It is adapted the Jumper series of novels from Steven Gould, which also served as the basis for Liman’s 2008 film adaptation, Jumper.

Impulse Season 2 Details
Impulse follows Henrietta “Henry” Cole (Maddie Hasson), a rebellious teenager who feels trapped in her small town. After a traumatic event, Henry discovers that she has the ability to teleport, which opens up a new world of opportunity and danger for her.
As the official synopsis for the second season of Impulse reads:
In the upcoming second season of Impulse, “Henry” Coles life suddenly changes when a traumatic event awakens within her a dangerous ability beyond her understanding and control: teleportation. With the help of her friends, Henry struggles to unravel the mystery of her powers. But they aren’t the only ones who have taken an interest in Henry’s situation, and the closer they come to the truth, the more dangerous things become. Can Henry keep her powers a secret, or will unlocking the truth mean endangering the people she loves?
As Global Head of Original Content, YouTube Susanne Daniels said in the initial Season 2 announcement:
“This dramatic thriller has all of the right elements — with unexplained events and complex characters who drew us into their mysterious world right from the start.” She adds, “We’re thrilled to continue our partnership with Universal Cable Productions and the talented team at Hypnotic to create another intriguing season.”
Maddie Hasson will return as Henry in season two, as will the rest of the cast including Missi Pyle as Cleo, Sarah Desjardins as Jenna, Enuka Okuma as Deputy Anna, and Craig Arnold as Lucas.
Lauren LeFranc serves as showrunner and executive producer. No word on a release date for Impulse Season 2 yet but it sounds like if YouTube had its way, the show would be out tomorrow.
