At this point, it’s probably safe to say they’ve gotten away with the murder.

ABC has ordered How to Get Away with Murder Season 6, according to a Deadline report. Notably, How to Get Away with Murder is being renewed alongside its two Shondaland “TGIT” partners, Grey’s Anatomy and Station 19Grey’s Anatomy actually got a two-season pickup for an unprecedented Seasons 16 and 17 and Station 19 will be getting its third season.

According to ABC, however, How to Get Away with Murder Season 6 will be the show’s last. Six seasons is a lot of television for any TV show to receive. As you can see above it’s on the lower side of Shondaland shows. Still quite impressive!

“Everyone at Shondaland is thrilled that our fans’ commitment to TGIT continues,” Shonda Rhimes and producing partner Betsy Beers said in a joint statement. “We are so proud of Krista and Pete and the work they do. Making the choice to have Krista oversee Station 19 was easy — the creativity she brings to the Grey’s Anatomy universe continues a tradition of storytelling we hold dear.”

How to Get Away with Murder was the fifth TV project to develop under Rhimes’s Shondaland imprint (anyone remember that one season of Off the Map? Anyone?). The show stars Emmy and Oscar winning award actress Viola Davis as Annalise Keating, a law professor at a prestigious Philadelphia university who becomes entwined in a murder plot along with five of her students.

How to Get Away with Murder was created by Peter Nowalk, who previously worked on Grey’s Anatomy. The show has always done well in its 10 p.m. Thursday block and is also produced by ABC Studios, making this yearly renewal an increasingly easy decision for the network.
