Your favorite classic cartoons invaded New York last weekend. Warner Bros. and Boomerang, Turner’s classic cartoon channel and streaming service, partnered for a one-of-a-kind pop-up experience during New York Comic Con weekend. They said it would be an Instagramer’s dream, and it certaintly lived up to the hype.
“The Get Animated Invasion” immersed attendees in the world of Hanna-Barbera. We went Duck and Rabbit hunting for Daffy and Bugs, sat down in Tom and Jerry’s living room, and went pre-historic at The Flinstones Ice Cream Bar with treats from Milk & Cream and Post (Fruity Pebbles infused ice cream was the proper choice). The pop-up featured original artwork from California-based artists Shelby and Sandy, all kinds of cool toon swag from BoxLunch, and custom designed Marvin the Martian Funko Dorbz statues, which were auctioned off to support CalArts scholarships.
The folks at Warner Bros. and Boomerang let us in for a private walkthrough… and a ride in the Mystery Machine!
