Galactica can get you killed – or arrested

It's easy to forget that 'fan' is the short-form of 'fanatic', until you see someone watching Battlestar Galactica at the helm of a speeding lorry...

A man has been sentenced to 225 hours community service in Britain for watching Battlestar Galactica at the wheel. Benjamin Trotsman was stopped by police on the M6 in Cumbria after having veered erratically over the road for 25 miles (must have been the disclosure of another Cylon sleeper). He has been banned from driving for 15 months.

The BBC reports that Trotsman’s vehicle was “speeding up, slowing down, and veering onto the hard shoulder.” Trotsman, 37, from Bridgnorth in Shropshire, had already pled guilty to dangerous driving at an earlier hearing before sentencing was carried out today.

Prosecutor Adrienne Harris described the Galactica-fan’s cabin thus:

“There was a laptop on the dashboard. A number of files under the name Battlestar Galactica were displayed and the media application was running.”
