Dirk Gently Season 2 Trailer

Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency used the occasion of New York Comic-Con to unveil a bit more of Season 2 with a preview clip that – in true Dirk Gently manner – probably makes little to no sense from the context-deprived outset, but will prove profoundly pertinent as the season gets deeper.

The clip, set in a fantastical fairy-tale-type land, introduces us to a new character, named Panto Trost, played by Christopher Russell, an actor who also had a recurring role in Star Trek: Discovery‘s first season. Here, as Panto, he plays a pink-haired princely hero character who’s being chased by two goons, before crossing blades with them, specifically blades that are pairs of giant scissors. However, the seemingly portentous arrival of the duo of Silas Dengdamor (Lee Majdoub) and Wygar Oak (Aleks Paunovic) quickly turns friendly (really, really friendly,) when Silas kisses Panto on the lips romantically, revealing them to be the tragic center of a conflict between warring families; a conflict that can only be quelled by… Dirk Gently. – Because why not?

The fist Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency Season 2 trailer, while hardly a comprehensive preview of what was in store for our go-with-the-flow private eyes Dirk Gently (Samuel Barnett) and Todd Brotzman (Elijah Wood), now joined by Farah Black (Jade Eshete), it certainly set an audacious tone. In this scene, Dirk finds himself imprisoned in a mysterious facility, when we see Todd and Farah – armed with futuristic weapons – barge in, sporting shades and new badass demeanors to rescue him. However, before Dirk gets too excited, he musters enough self-awareness to realize that this is just a wacky dream, awakening to the sight of guards mean-mugging him.

Dirk Gently Cast News

A few new characters will be brought in for Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency season 2. Alan Tudyk (Con Man) will play a character known as Mr. Priest, John Hannah (Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD) will play The Mage, Amanda Walsh (Lost Girl) will play a character named Suzie Boreton, Tyler Labine (Voltron) will be portraying Sherlock Hobbs, Aleks Paunovic (Van Helsing) will portray Wygar Oak, and Izzie Steele will play Deputy Tina Tevetino.

Dirk Gently Season 2 News

A good sign coming out of the season 2 renewal is that the next run of Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency will contain ten episodes, an increase over season 1’s eight installments.

Based quite loosely on the Douglas Adam’s novel of the same name, Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency follows the madcap investigation being carried out by Dirk Gently (Samuel Barnett) with the help of his unwitting assistant, Todd (Elijah Wood). With both mysterious supernatural elements like body-jumping souls and sci-fi concepts like time travel, the show takes an insanely improbably set of circumstances and creates a compelling puzzle of the resulting dark conspiracy.

We spoke with Samuel Barnett of Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency on the October 2017 episode of Sci Fi Fidelity. Listen below (at 49:02) or subscribe!
