Back series 2 is happening

Mitchell and Webb's latest comedy offering Back will be, er, back for a second series...

Comedy series Back, starring David Mitchell and Robert Webb, will be getting a second run of episodes next year. Six, to be precise. Channel 4 have announced that they’ll begin filming next summer, and hopefully make their way to our screens in the autumn.

The first series, which focused on Mitchell’s character Stephen trying to take over the family pub whilst dealing with his annoying foster brother (Webb), managed to score around a million viewers an episode.

“I’m so pleased Channel 4 have given their backing to bringing Back back for a second series,” David Mitchell said in a statement. “I look back on Back series one with tremendous pride and can’t wait to be back working with the whole Back pack when we’re all back together making Back.”

“We’re all delighted that Back is where it belongs: back,” added Robert Webb.

Back is written by Simon Blackwell, and Channel 4’s Head of Comedy Fiona McDermott was keen to address his talents when chatting about the renewal of the series. “Writers of Simon’s calibre don’t just turn up unannounced, at a graveside, claiming to be your foster brother, so it was easy to seize the opportunity to work with him, David, Robert and Big Talk again on this brilliantly funny show.”

More as we have it.
